The “Overall Height” is the total height of the Vertical Posts of the Shelving Unit as measured from the ceiling to the lowest point of the lowest fitting.
The Select Shelving Program is limited to a Maximum Overall Height of 60 inches.
Over 60 inches requires a “Custom Quote”
If you “Lock” the “Overall Height” then the available height will be distributed evenly between your shelves.
If you change a Shelf Spacing Dimension, then the remaining shelves will be adjusted to suit your “fixed” Overall Height.
If you “Un-Lock” the “Overall Height” then your shelf spacing will be totaled to re-calculate the Overall Height needed to accommodate your specified shelf spacing.
The “Overall Width” is the total width of the Shelving Unit as measured from the the leftmost edge of the shelf material (Glass) to the farthest right point.
The Select Shelving Program is limited to a Maximum Overall Height of 120 inches.
Over 120 inches requires a “Custom Quote”
For structural reasons Palmer does not recommend shelf support spacing wider than 42″ for 1/2″ thick Tempered Glass Shelving.
If you “Lock” the “Overall Width” then the available width, after deducting the “Shelf Overhang” of both ends, will be distributed evenly between your Vertical Posts. If you change a Post Spacing Dimension, then the remaining Post Spacing will be adjusted to suit your “fixed” Overall width.
If you “Un-Lock” the “Overall Width” then your Vertical Post spacing will be totaled to re-calculate the Overall Width needed to accommodate your specified Vertical Post spacing and Shelf Overhang.
The “Shelf Overhang” is the part of the shelf that extends beyond the Shelf Support Tubes to the left and right of the shelving unit.
The “Shelf Overhang” is measured from the outer edge of the shelf to the outer edge of the Vertical Post Tube.
Increasing the “Shelf Overhang” can be increased to as much as a 12″ overhang, which can cause your vertical posts to be more closely spaced for the same “Overall Width”.
“Post Spacing” is the distance between two Vertical Posts as measured from center line to center line.
You can adjust your Vertical Post Spacing:
To design a shelving system having a specific “Overall Width”.
1. Unlock the “Overall Width” padlock icon and enter your desired “Overall Width” in the pink box.
2. Then lock the “Overall Width” padlock icon so that the “Overall Width” cannot change.
3. You can now change the “Post Spacing” dimensions between the posts.
4. Shelving Systems with an “Overall Width” greater than 120 inches require a custom quote.
To design a shelving system having specific Vertical Post Spacings.
1. Unlock the “Overall Width” padlock icon.
2. You can now change the “Post Spacing” dimensions between the posts.
3. The “Overall Width” of the shelving unit will be calculated for you
(from the total of the spaces between the posts plus twice the “Shelf Overhang” and the tube diameter)
4. Shelving Systems with an “Overall Width” greater than 120 inches require a custom quote.
For structural reasons Palmer does not recommend shelf support spacing wider than 42″ for 1/2″ thick Tempered Glass Shelving.
“Shelf Spacing” is the measured distance from the top surface of one shelf to the bottom surface of the shelf above, or the ceiling in the case of the top shelf.
The total of the shelf spaces will be less than the “Overall Height” because of the thickness of all the shelves and the bottom fittings on the Vertical Posts which extend 1.7″ below the surface of the bottom shelf.
To design a shelving system having a specific “Overall Height”
1. Unlock the “Overall Height” padlock icon and enter your desired “Overall Height” in the pink box
2. Then lock the “Overall Height” padlock icon so that the “Overall Height” cannot change.
3. You can now change the “Shelf Spacing” dimensions of any shelf,
EXCEPT for the Top Shelf which will be calculated to use the remaining available height
4. Shelving Systems with an “Overall Height” greater than 60 inches require a custom quote
To design a shelving system having specific shelf heights
1. Unlock the “Overall Height” padlock icon.
2. You can now change the “Shelf Spacing” dimensions for each shelf
3. The “Overall Height” of the shelving unit will be calculated from the total of the shelves and spaces.
4. Shelving Systems with an “Overall Height” greater than 60 inches require a custom quote
Note: If you specify Horizontal Crossbars on All Shelf Levels then you will want to add an extra inch to your shelf spacing to allow for the crossbar so that you do not have to “tip” a tall object to fit under the crossbar when you put it on the shelf.
